OverPower is the very first superhero CCG. It is published by Fleer/Skybox from 1995 - October 1997. In early 1998, Marvel Interactive became the sole producer and distributor of Overpower, taking it over from Fleer. The game is now operated and produced by Lazarus Rising Games.

OverPower is the very first superhero CCG. Followers include games like VS system. Marvel Interactive only produced two sets, Image and X-Men, both of which were fraught with delays and printing difficulties. After X-Men CCG was released in 1999, Overpower enjoyed no more official support. Eventually, Marvel decided to sell the exclusive rights to produce a collectible card game based on Marvel characters to Wizards of the Coast.

The game was originally designed by Michael Stern and Theodore Stern, then later developed by Steve Domzalski, Ron Perazza, and Bill Jemas. Marvel Overpower, DC Overpower and Image Overpower all have different back designs.
